We are looking for an experienced automation tester who treats testing as an integral part of software engineering, not just a final verification step.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated functional and performance tests that directly support the stability, security, and predictability of delivering a complex production system.
This role is for someone who:
- understands application architecture and how the system behaves in production,
- can analyze problems beyond simply “a test failed,”
- wants to have a real impact on product quality, reliability, and long-term development.
You will be a good fit for this role if you:
- have commercial experience with Playwright and TypeScript and feel confident working with automated tests,
- have at least 5 years of experience in software testing, including a minimum of 3 years in test automation and performance testing,
- treat testing as an integral part of software engineering, not just a final validation stage,
- can design maintainable automated tests based on the Page Object Model,
- have experience testing complex systems, including frontend, backend, APIs, and integrations,
- have worked with:
- REST API testing,
- performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter, Locust, k6),
- can analyze application behavior and debug issues end to end, correlating test results, logs, and system changes,
- have a solid understanding of containerized environments (Docker) and how tests run in CI/CD pipelines,
- communicate clearly with developers, product owners, and other roles within the team,
- are comfortable working in English (minimum B2+).
Project description:
You will join a team working on a large-scale platform for the early childhood education sector, supporting kindergartens, daycare centers, and parents across the Benelux region. The system is actively used in production by a large and growing user base and includes multiple integrations and dependencies. It has been developed over many years, which means working with a mix of mature and legacy components.
The product is currently undergoing modernization and partial rewrites, creating a real opportunity to influence the automated testing strategy, overall product quality, and the long-term stability and reliability of the system. We work in Scrum, with close collaboration between testers, developers, and product roles, and a strong focus on building solutions that are reliable, maintainable, and fit for real production use.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests using Playwright + TypeScript (Page Object Model),
- Working closely on a daily basis with developers, product owners, and other engineers within a Scrum team,
- Supporting system modernization and partial rewrites by:
- validating new architectural approaches,
- identifying risks early,
- proposing improvements in testability, reliability, and UX/UI,
- Testing both frontend and backend, including:
- UI scenarios,
- REST APIs,
- integrations between systems,
- Performing performance and reliability testing, identifying bottlenecks and system limitations,
- Analyzing and debugging issues by:
- investigating the causes of failing tests,
- correlating them with application behavior, logs, and system changes,
- identifying root causes rather than masking symptoms,
- Running and maintaining tests in CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on fast feedback and stable delivery,
- Contributing to test strategy, quality standards, and the overall engineering maturity of the product.
