- Experience working with GIS data services (previous work with technologies related to geographical data modeling or route planning engines) OR experience in building map servers - utilizing techniques for returning portions of geographical data OR experience with frontend libraries using geographical data to create maps and layers.
Expectations:
- Node.js + TypeScript - ability to independently type code that lacks typing, understand the difference between a type and an interface, and proficiently use asynchronous programming (async/await/promise).
- REST, Message Broker, Microservices - understanding how services communicate and the methods for synchronous or asynchronous communication between services.
- Design Patterns - ability to identify and apply basic design patterns.
- Software Testing - familiarity with at least one code testing tool, understanding why writing tests is an important stage in software development.
- Containerization - ability to independently prepare a container containing an application / ability to set up a local environment for a service using Docker Compose.
- Troubleshooting - ability to independently propose a solution to a given problem and assess its strengths and weaknesses.
Nice to Have:
- Geospatial Data Management: working with spatial databases, geospatial data formats (such as shapefiles and GeoJSON), and processing geospatial data for efficient handling of large datasets.
- Spatial Analysis and Visualization: implementing algorithms and techniques for the analysis and visualization of geospatial data, such as spatial queries and map rendering.
- GIS Software Development: designing and developing Geographic Information System (GIS) software applications, including user interfaces, data input and output, and integration with external systems.
- Geospatial Algorithms and Modeling: working with algorithms for route planning and optimization.
- Spatial Database Management: working with spatial databases such as PostgreSQL or PostGIS, including spatial indexing, query optimization, and database administration.
- Geospatial Software Testing and Quality Assurance: conducting thorough testing of geospatial software to ensure its functionality, performance, and accuracy.
- Integration of Spatial Data: integrating geospatial data from various sources and formats, including data from GPS or other location-based services.
What project will you be working on?
We are currently seeking a specialist to contribute to the development of the transport and logistics platform, Trans.eu. Our platform offers a range of business services, such as cost forecasting for transporting specific cargo and facilitating transactions between parties. Additionally, it includes technical services managing configuration and monitoring RabbitMQ. Communication within the team is conducted in Polish; however, a basic understanding of English for reading documentation is required.
Our team operates under the NASA umbrella, specializing in creating interactive maps and geocoding from scratch for the trans.eu platform. We are in search of a Developer who can assist us in enhancing these features and oversee the route planning system. The goal is to provide innovative logistic solutions on an international scale.
